菊花是传统的名花，代表的意义很多，花语有长寿、吉祥、高洁、我爱你、清净、怀念的意思、不同颜色的花朵具有不同的含义。菊花是花中四君子（梅兰竹菊）之一，具有清寒傲雪的品格。菊花的象征意义具体如下：
1、不同颜色的菊花，象征意义也不同：黄色的菊花，象征淡淡的爱。白色的菊花，在中国哀挽之意，用于追悼死者的场合；但是在日本，菊花是皇室的象征，代表着贞洁、诚实。暗红色的菊花，象征娇媚。
2、菊花象征久长的意义：菊花在秋季开放，故为秋的象征，人们甚至把九月称“菊月”，因为菊与“据”同音，因“九”与“久”同音，所以菊花也用来象征长寿或长久，并且农历九月初九重阳节这一天采菊更有意义。
3、菊花与九个鹌鹑画在一起，因“鹌”与“安”同音，就有“九世居安”的意思，即表示别人祝愿平平安安、长长久久。
4、菊花与松树画在一起，就有“松菊永存”的意思，即表示祝愿接受此画的人长寿。
5、菊花与一只蝈蝈儿画在一起，因“蝈”与“官”同音，就有“官居一品”的意思，即表示祝愿别人长久占据官位。

1、魏晋·陶渊明《饮酒（其五）》：“采菊东篱下，悠然见南山。”
